Harborfields Public Library Tutor Policy FAQs

What days and time will the Tutoring rooms be available?

On Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, from 3:30 to 8:00 PM, two children's program rooms will be furnished with tables and chairs to accommodate up to twelve tutors and students at one time.

Why are we encouraging the tutors to use these program rooms?

We are encouraging tutors to use these rooms because they are quiet and will create a more educationally conducive environment for students to work with their tutor. There will be no distractions, no ringing phones and no people walking by. It will be an area where our students can concentrate and receive an hour of undivided attention from their tutor.

While a student is being tutored, parents can enjoy the rest of the Library to read a book, use the computers or socialize without distracting students who have come here to learn.

Can tutors and their students use the library computers?

Students may use the library computers if they have a Harborfields Public Library card. However, in order to use the Internet, all students under the age of 18 must have a signed Parental Consent Form and agree to our Computer Use policy. Please stop by the Children's Room or Reference Desk to sign an Internet permission form before your child begins his/her tutoring session. Please remember to have your child bring their library card with them to the library.

Please note: Computers are located in the Children's and Adult Reference Rooms

What if a student needs to be tutored on a different day of the week?

Our special tutoring rooms will only be available on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, from 3:30 to 8:00 PM. On days that the special rooms are not available it will be the tutor's responsibility to find a place in the public areas of the library to tutor their student.

We are asking that all parents and tutors comply with the above Tutoring Policy.

By working together the students of our community will be able to receive the guidance and enrichment that they need to succeed.
